23 January 2008

So I came to work this morning, and one of our (attractive, female) correspondents showed me a gift she got from a viewer. That, in of itself, is not a strange thing. Reporters (and even producers) from time to time get small tokens, cards, notes from viewers. And of course there's the rambling, hand-written, bordering on psychotic, letters from viewers. (Illegal immigration, abortion, and gay marriage brings out the crazy in people.) Anyway--the gift was this creepy doll (similar to the picture.) It was sent in a hat box with various changes of clothes, a "jaunty" hat, and a rocking chair. And it smelled like stale cigarette smoke.

Then the whole doll thing made me think how crazy it is that Marie Osmond has a doll collection that she occasionally peddles on QVC.

Strange indeed.
