6 March 2007

Random thoughts:

* Where's global warming when you need it? It's March and the windchill this morning was below zero. I was about to walk to the metro this morning and got about a half block from the house when I turned around and got in my car. Will go to the gym in a little while to make sure I get my exercise in...

* Met my dear friend Tony for dinner last night at Raku. The conversation and the food were awesome. Got down there a little early and headed over to Kramer Books to see if I could find a book for the cruise. I picked up the book Dupont Circle, which seems to fit the bill of what I was looking for--something light.

* Had a long overdue conversation with my best friend from high school, Julie. She's a stay-at-home mom with three kids living in Kansas--yet we still talk so easily--like we did when we were teenagers. There's something SO comforting in that.

* As most of you know, I'm NOT a big shopper--but we've been doing a fair amount in advance of our big cruise. I even went to the mall yesterday--ON MY OWN--on my day off. I had to buy a new pair of khakis--which I did in about 15 minutes (including the time spent actually trying them on.) Even more impressive: the girl and I venturing to Tyson's Corner. On a Sunday.

* Gram might be released from rehab this weekend--a little ahead of schedule. Thank goodness my aunt will there to help my mom with that transition
