15 December 2006

Everyone's in the holiday spirit here at work...which means everyone's EXTRA silly:

* Yesterday our State Department correspondent did a bit, live on camera, during one of our daytime shows where he danced and sang with two make-up artists in our greenroom.

* Someone did an overhead page asking if anyone had any nail polish remover--while the Attorney General was in the bureau.

* The random celebrity birthday on my Capricorn calendar today: Miami Vice's Don Johnson. Thank goodness a colleague remembered that Johnson had a song in 1986 called "Heartbeat." We just saw the You Tube video. It is hilarious. We want to make it a drinking game: 1 drink for every time Johnson is seen wearing a tank top. 2 drinks for every shot of a band member with 80s "Flock of Seagulls-eque" hairstyle. 3 drinks for everytime there's a inexplicable fiery explosion with helicopters flying by. 4 drinks for a shot of some random woman looking off in the distance, etc.

If you waited to buy your PORNAMENTS, you're too late. They're all sold out. Someone emailed me a story about these little buggers, and I had to check it out for myself. Yes, if you were looking to put ornaments of Santa, elves, or any reindeer in (ahem) "compromising positions" on your Christmas tree--you'll have to wait until next year. These ornaments are causing quite a stir in many communities--some folks are even threatening legal action to get them out of stores where little kids can see them. Seems like a pretty good idea to me.

14 December 2006

Random Thoughts:

1) CRAZY heavy fog this morning--so much so that the U.S. Capitol building is totally obstructed from view. It was very strange not to see the familiar and famous dome as I was driving in this morning.

2) One of my mother-in-law's friends in Philadelphia had her LIFE-SIZED baby jesus stolen from the nativity scene that was in her front yard. And it's all over the local news in Philly. Check out the story and PICTURES HERE.

3) My colleagues here at work had so much fun at our skating party last week that they want to go again! I love how one of our on-air correspondents is into it, too. I skated much better this year than last. Even the girl thought so.

4) You HAVE to check out this silly You Tube video of a dancing cat. It makes me laugh out loud EVERY time.

5) Our fake Christmas trees looks REALLY good. And so does our mantle--thanks to
the girl. She worked her magic with (real) garland and lights. I'll post pics soon. We also got REALLY stinky candles that smell like evergreens for that "real tree" smell. The imagination is a powerful tool.

6) Have you ever driven behind a truck with one of the signs on the back that reads: "How's My Driving?, Call 1-800, blah, blah, blah")? Well, the girl was cut off TWICE by a truck yesterday while driving home from the rink and called the number to complain. She was gratified because the people seemed genuinely concerned about the dangerous driving. The best part: it was a SALVATION ARMY truck. Good times.
