7 December 2006

It's that time of year again...when I get roped into organizing my office's Secret Santa. I've been in charge for the past 5 years (and I've complained every single one of those years), so people expect it now of me. I THOUGHT about just blowing it off--but a bunch of people are already asking me about it and goading me into being in charge. I don't mean to be a Scrooge about it--but it's a MAJOR pain in the ass. Bah humbug!

On a happier note--I have my long johns and flask ready to go for tonight's skating party!

It's a long story--but I and another co-worker re-enacted this picture for the more junior members of the staff who aren't familiar with l'affaire Donna Rice/Gary Hart that derailed Hart's presidential bid back in 1988. As far as I know, no one's called Human Resources.

P.S. Donna Rice (now Donna Rice Hughes) is doing great advocacy on behalf of kids at an organization called "Enough is Enough."

5 December 2007

Thursday night's our "annual" skating party. (I put "annual" in quotes because it's only the second time we've done this --but we plan to continue. Does that count as annual?)

Anyway--I'm getting ready, tracking down my scarf and gloves and digging out the most important thing I need to REALLY skate: my flask and some top notch brandy.
