Bought a new bike recently. I haven't had a bike since I was a kid, so it's been a alot of fun. Check it out:

A lot's changed since I had a bike when I was kid. First of all, the whole helmet thing. I never wore a helmet when I was a kid (maybe that explains some things!), so it's been an interesting experience shopping for one that doesn't make me look like a complete dork. The second thing that's a new experience for me--all the gears. I have gears for the front AND the back tires. No idea how they work, which is very unfortunate because my neighborhood is QUITE hilly. I'm fooling around with it, so I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually. I'm also amazed that there are actual shock aborbers on my tires--and even on my seat--which makes me laugh because the most rigorous riding I'm going to do is a spin down to Whole Foods or a ride on the paved trail along Sligo Creek.

The girl picked up her bike today after getting it all tuned up and ready to go. We're planning on taking them to the beach when we visit her mom at the Jersey shore.

Meanwhile--we're getting new steps for the front of the house. They were the orginial concrete, which is about 80 years old and they were starting to show their age. Here's the BEFORE picture.

The azaleas are all in bloom throughout our neighborhood--here's a look at some of ours in front of the house.
