Just saw that DC now has an organization befitting its role as one of the world's greatest cities: an all-girl roller derby team--the DC Rollergirls. There's a recruiting party tonight. Fabulous.

So my neighbor--who, seriously, looks like Kramer from "Seinfeld"--is having a party tonight. Our (shared) driveway will apparently be transformed into a dance floor. It's a "fiesta" theme that's supposed to raise money for the "peoples of Ecuador."

Should be interesting.

The View from my beach chair, taken Monday 8/7/06
Crashed all day at work today, but it was worth it after 5 days at the NJ shore with the girl. The highlights: watching the sunset over drinks and dinner at a restaurant on the bay...walking on the beach with the girl eating the most amazing lemon italian ice I've ever tasted...laughing ourselves silly at a waterpark in Ocean City (yes, we were the only adults there without children)...playing a couple of slots in Atlantic City...lots of trips to Wawa...eating hot caramel corn on the boardwalk..and long walks with the girl and her mom through the streets of Margate City.

Update #1: My Associate Producer stole back her bunny and the best part is -- our WH correspondent doesn't know it yet (he got sent to cover Bush at his ranch in Texas.)

Update #2: My AP came in third in the hottest media types contest. She was winning on the last day of voting, but then--out of nowhere and QUITE suspiciously--some chick from NPR won. Boo.
