I love my crock pot.

There, I said it.

You'll have to excuse my irrational exuberance (as Alan Greenspan would say), but I made my very first pot roast yesterday.

You see, I never really listened to my mom when she told me how to make it (or any other dish) when I was growing up. (It's okay, she knows I barely paid attention when she tried to show me how to cook something--we laugh about it to this day.)

I've tried to make various dishes, and sometimes I hit--but mostly I miss.

But yesterday...oh, yesterday. That was the day I bought a pot roast, put it in that wonderful crock pot, covered it in beef broth, wine, veggies, and various herbs and spices and let it cook for 6 hours.

And the girl--the girl with the VERY finicky taste buds--LOVED it. Quite a culinary feat indeed!

I'm a recent convert as well. A friend gave me one last month, and I've realized that it's the perfect way to make stock.

Now I want a little better one with a timer. Guess I'll go to Wal-Mart and shell out the twenty bucks for a fancy slow cooker.
