8 June 2006

A couple of items today:

1) It's summer intern season at my cable news network. And they're literally SWARMING. Our newsroom looks like Calcutta, the sheer density of people. I half expect to see cattle and people selling rugs any minute now. (Some don't even have a place to sit!)

2) One of our tape library folks--who spent two weeks at Disneyland (an annual trip)---got engaged there, with Mickey and Minnie looking on.

3) And my friend Catherine Herridge--who is a correspondent for Fox--donated part of her liver to her 5-month old son, Peter, who has a bile-duct disorder. I'm happy to report the surgery was a success. The two have a long recovery though--Catherine about 5 weeks, and Peter about 8 weeks. Greta Van Susteren has been in touch with Catherine and is posting updates on her blog, GretaWire.

Catherine, husband J.D., and Peter pre-surgery:

4. ALSO new report by the Greater Washington Initiative today shows Washington, D.C. and its Maryland and Virginia suburbs is the wealthiest, most educated metropolitan area in the United States. (Which explains the high housing prices--and traffic.) You can read the story and the report HERE.
